Each year, over $100,000 in scholarships is awarded to University of Illinois students working to improve their communities. 

Incoming freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are eligible to receive an award of $3000. Students are eligible to receive this award only once, but may reapply as seniors for the Bailey Leadership Awards. 

Eligibility

  • Demonstrated commitment to service, community involvement, leadership, and awareness
  • Demonstrated academic achievement and critical thought about the pressing issues facing the world today
  • Financial Need

 

The Bailey Leadership Awards are $5000 awards given each year to four exceptional upcoming seniors who have made a demonstrated impact on the University of Illinois campus during their initial three years on campus in one of the following areas: Social Justice, Environment, Faith in Action, and International Issues. 

Eligibility

  • Will be a college senior during the 2010-2011 academic year
  • Demonstrated commitment and impact towards Social Justice, Environment, Faith in Action, or International issues
  • Demonstrated academic achievement and critical thought about the pressing issues facing the world today 
  • Financial Need

Tips for Applicants

  1. Make sure you complete all parts of the application.
  2. References should be able to speak your service, community, and leadership activities in addition to academic achievement.
  3. Applicants are evaluated based on financial need, awareness, critical thinking, leadership, and involvement.
  4. Your answers to the essay questions are important!  Your essays are our evaluators’ best opportunity to learn about your passions, your impact, and your potential to create real, sustainable change.
