Nathan Alexander

Nathan Alexander is a wildlife PhD student at UIUC studying the Illinois plains pocket gopher, focusing on niche reduction due to agricultural intensification, phylogeography, and population genetics. Outside of his research, he serves on the UIUC LGBT Resource Center Advisory Committee and represents the LGBT Resource Center on the Continuum of Service Providers to the Homeless (CSPH). At the CSPH, he initiated the LGBTQ+ Homeless Workgroup to inform policy, advocate, and provide trainings to increase access of resources to LGBTQ+ individuals. Nathan has secured grants, planned events, and conducted outreach, but he truly enjoys quiet nights knitting alongside his cat.
