Steve Rugg

Steve Rugg retired in 2007 as University of Illinois Vice President For Administration after more than thirty-seven years as a UI student and staff member. For twenty years prior to taking the VP position, Rugg headed the University Office for Planning and Budgeting, directing the creation and allocation of the University’s annual state-funded operating and capital budgets. In retirement, Rugg has served fourteen years as a founding trustee of the Urbana Parks Foundation, for which he continues to serve as Chair of its Fundraising Committee; ten years as a community member of the Building Committee of the University YMCA and two previous terms as a member of the University Y’s Board of Governors; and twelve years as president of the Champaign County Design and Conservation Foundation, where he helped complete efforts to purchase and develop the Kickapoo Rail Trail. He has also served on the Community Advisory Committee for Illinois Public Media (WILL) and on the Advisory Committee for the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. Rugg and his wife, Deborah, who is a Trustee of the University YMCA and past chair of its Board of Governors, have two adult children and five grandchildren.
