“I have had a lot of favorite moments of bridgebuilding. One was meal packing at an Illinois Interfaith Conference. I was at a table with a Catholic priest from Newman Center and Muslim woman. Together they began talking about the importance of rituals around prayer, and the comfort prayer brought each of them. As we talked, I realized how powerful it was to see yourself and your faith reflected back in a person from a different religious tradition. Now when I come together in an interfaith dialogue, I try to pay attention for the unlikely intersections of belief, practice, and identity that our interfaith neighbors share with one another.”
