The University YMCA seeks a mission-driven professional to connect the local immigrant community with resources both internal and external to the New American Welcome Center. The Community Worker will be responsible for equipping the community through outreach, education, referrals, and case management. The Community Worker will work closely with the Immigrant Family Services Coordinator and NAWC staff. The Community Worker will also supervise and equip a team of Community Navigator volunteers.

Compensation

This is a part-time position averaging 20 hours per week. The hourly wage range is $17.50 - $20.00, negotiable and commensurate with
experience. This is a grant-funded position through 6/30/2025.

While continuation of this position is foreseen for years to come, all NAWC positions are contingent on available grant funding and performance.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is preferred;
  • Native fluency, written and oral, is required in one of the following languages: Spanish, French, Chinese, or Korean;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule at times, including some evenings and weekends;
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record and access to a reliable vehicle

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with underserved communities through frequent face-to-face opportunities, timely and complete service delivery, and culturally sensitive care;
  • Ensure successful client advocacy at all levels of program delivery, including intake, referral, case management (limited), and follow-up;
  • Program development, outreach, and education; and partnership building;
  • Organize and facilitate community education programs and events;
  • Identify barriers to community resources and civic engagement for immigrant communities while enacting solutions;
  • Work with NAWC staff and volunteers to provide seamless and effective continuity of service for program participants;
  • Complete special assignments based on community needs;
  • Track client data accurately and precisely with attention to detail;
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong commitment to the enfranchisement and empowerment of immigrant communities;
  • Ability to work with people across diverse personalities, lifestyles, cultures, political orientations, and faiths;
  • Impeccable integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed;
  • Strong computer skills in all Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite;
  • Experience with case management systems and/or grant reporting is strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to learning
