Debbie Rugg is a retired medical education manager who worked with a local hospital system affiliated with the Urbana UI Medical School. She trained in psychology and education psychology with a focus toward qualitative education evaluation. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, she and her family landed in Urbana in 1971 via Ohio, West Virginia and New Hampshire, choosing UI for graduate education. Debbie has been on the BOG, serving one year as chair and on various committees including development. She was actively involved with two successful capitol campaigns. Husband Steve worked his post graduate degree years doing UI administration. They have two children and five grandchildren, two of whom are already working in their college educated careers (very fortunate these days). They are both enjoying “retirement” years working with the UYMCA as one of just a very few community institutions – each of which work with socially responsible investing along with the plethora of critical issues the Y has specialized in over the years.
