Marc Alexander
Director of Development and Membership
As the Director of Development and Membership at the University YMCA, where he has been working since 2018, Marc oversees the organization’s fundraising efforts, including the Annual Fund, Restricted Giving, Planned Giving, Stewardship, and Donor Engagement. He enjoys developing relationships and exploring new outreach opportunities, and is grateful for the many wonderful people he is privileged to work with at the Y: the students, the staff, community members and alumni; and the fact that they are all connected through a thread of change in a positive way.
Marc graduated from Vanderbilt University where he majored in political science and history and came to the Y after being involved in Dump & Run as a volunteer. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Champaign Center Partnership, the Uni High Alumni Association, and the Advisory Board for the Sinfonia da Camera. In his free time he is an avid reader, enjoys watching movies and a cavalcade of sports. Music is an important part of Marc’s life, which is not a surprise since both his parents are musicians. He plays the piano on a near daily basis, still picks up his trumpet once in a while and loves attending live shows in Champaign-Urbana and abroad whenever possible. A Champaign native, he is (sometimes regrettably) a huge Illini fan and long-time season ticket holder.
