Valerie Sivicek
Governor
Valerie Sivicek is a botanist and plant ecologist at the Illinois Natural History Survey. Her involvement with the University YMCA began her freshman year at the University of Illinois, in fall 1999, when she got involved with student programs as a member of Red Bison. She has previously served 10 years on the Board of Governors (including four years as a student member and six as a community member) and seven years on the Champaign County Bikes steering committee. She is also in her eighth year on the Grand Prairie Friends Board of Directors, where she serves as secretary. Environmental issues are Valerie’s biggest interest and passion. She also loves cycling and just about any kind of outdoor adventure.
